Ryan Kelly Attends Webinar on Navigating Cases with Narcissistic Behaviors

During high conflict family law cases, there are often serious challenging narcissistic behaviors exhibited by the parties involved. This creates significant challenges for attorneys, mental health professionals and judges. In an effort to address this challenge Our Family Wizard, an app for co-parenting, hosted a webinar to help those involved in these types of cases.

Ryan Kelly, Family Law AttorneyIn attendance was Ryan Kelly of Kelly & Kelly P.C., who specializes in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody and child support matters, as well as parenting time disputes and spousal support matters. As an attorney frequently handling family law matters involving mental issues, substance abuse and cluster B personality disorders, Ryan found it useful to attend this webinar. As a lifelong learner, she is always open to exploring new ideas and strategies for tackling complex family law cases.

There were several key takeaways from this webinar, which Ryan has found useful to add to her legal toolbox. Primarily this webinar focused on recognizing key narcissistic behaviors, as well as implementing trauma-informed legal approaches. Specifically, it covered in depth how narcissistic traits manifest themselves in family law proceedings. This included things such as gaslighting, scapegoating, manipulation and a lack of empathy for others. When involved in family law proceedings, these often add another layer of confusion and difficulty to cases, especially when trying to discover the truth.

Once these behaviors were discussed in detail, the webinar explained how to use this knowledge to manage family law cases. It went into detail about the psychological dynamics of these cases, as well as strategies for the courtroom including unique approaches to crafting legal and therapeutic interventions in order to mitigate the negative effects of these narcissistic behaviors. Ryan was grateful for the webinar and is excited to implement the knowledge gained in furthering her success as a high conflict family law attorney.
